Thank you for your interest in Command Automotive, Inc. I have seen your web site, and I am very impressed with what you are doing.

Command Automotive has been in business for 2 1/2 years, manufacturing a high performance brake rotor for law enforcement and other severe-duty applications, but mostly law enforcement. Our brake rotor is called the "SD-1" rotor.

Currently our rotors are being used by many state, local, county, and federal agencies with great success. I have attached a revolving list of contacts within the law enforcement community. This list reflects a small number of our customers and, as mentioned, is a revolving list that changes frequently. I will furnish an in-depth list of references if you require.

As far as our claims about brake fade, rotor wear, warping and pad life, I have to make one thing perfectly clear, these claims are for your “worst case scenario.”  Most of the users of our product exceed these claims.

You may want to review a letter from the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Center that can be found on our web site. These test results have been backed up by the Colorado Highway Patrol in their own testing conducted as the result of a crash investigation. The Michigan State Police have been testing our product in their driver training classes since late last year with great results. As a matter of fact, they will be doing their own deceleration test the 30th of July. The current feeling is that they will be using our rotors on their cars soon and may even spec them out on all of their new cars.

GM and Chrysler are currently running a testing program with our rotors, although I am not sure exactly what Chrysler is doing considering the fact that they are about to make a major change to their pursuit car. Ford is not testing at this time, but is waiting for the results of the Michigan State Police testing.

As you are aware, one of the leading causes of accidents in high speed pursuits is brake fade. The Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco, GA is using our SD-1 rotor exclusively on all of their pursuit training cars. As of this date, they have not had a single case of brake fade during their training classes. I hope that this is not an exaggerated statement, as it is by word of mouth with Joe McDowell, Senior Driving Instructor for that facility.

As of the first of this month, we are involved with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department testing program. We hope that by the way of their advanced brake testing program we can set some limits on brake fade in the SD-1 rotor. We have not been able to do this as of yet.

With your involvement in police pursuit driving, I think that you can see what we are bringing to the table. We are not a large automotive manufacturer. We do brake rotors only. That’s why we make the best.

Sincerely,

Gil Short
