Centralia, Washington Sergeant Pat Fitzgerald


Centralia, Washington Sergeant Pat Fitzgerald has been in Law Enforcement since 1979.  He has worked for the University of Southern California, Signal Hill, California, Tacoma Washington and is presently a Sergeant with the Centralia, Washington Police Department.  His experience includes Patrol, Investigations, Community Liaison (Community Policing Team), SWAT, and currently as a patrol supervisor. Since 2001, he has been a Law Enforcement Driver Training and supervises the training for his department.

Sergeant Fitzgerald has taught at the department, regional and academy level. Most recently he has taught Basic EVOC at Fort Lewis Washington for the Department of the Army’s Civilian Police Basic Academy.

Sergeant Fitzgerald is currently responsible for yearly EVOC qualification for his department, and maintaining and updating the pursuit / driving policy as needed.

Sergeant Fitzgerald is passionate about driver training.  His philosophy about law enforcement driver training is that it is: “Officer Survival”.

Sergeant Fitzgerald grew up  in Europe and the United States, while his father was in the military. During that time, he took an interest in cars and eventually went to his first real driving school, participating in SCCA autocross and a regional road racing conference (ICSCC). Sergeant Fitzgerald is married and has three grown children.

The Police Driving Site is excited about Sergeant Fitzgerald's participation as a Site Associate for the Northern Region.  His experience and enthusiasm will surely benefit others.
