Galveston, Texas Sergeant Ronny Phillips
 

Ronny Phillips is currently a Sergeant with the Galveston Police Department. He has been a Police Officer since 1982 and served as Patrolman, Detective and Crime Scene Investigator throughout his career.  Sergeant Phillips has been a licensed instructor since 1984 and holds instructor certifications in Defensive Tactics, Firearms, Police Emergency Vehicle Operation, Cultural Diversity and a Police Instructors Certification from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officers Standards and Education.  He is a Police Emergency Vehicle Operation Instructor for the Galveston Police Department. His duties as a Driving Instructor include the development of in-service training programs as well as basic in-house academy driving courses and assisting in Departmental Policy development.   Sergeant Phillips has conducted Police Emergency Driver Training for the Galveston Police Department, Galveston College Law Enforcement Training Academy, Alvin College Law Enforcement Training Academy and the Texas A&M (Galveston-Campus) Police Department. He is a current member of the Association of Professional Law Enforcement Emergency Vehicle Response Trainers International (A.L.E.R.T.)

Sergeant Phillips is a decorated officer, receiving several letters of accommodation, two Combat Ribbons, two Exceptional Service ribbons and the Federal Meritorious Service Award.

In addition to his Law Enforcement Driving Instructor responsibilities, Sergeant Phillips is the Dive Master of the Galveston Police Department Marine/Dive Team. As Dive Master he is responsible for Team training as well as planning dive operations. The Marine/Dive Team’s most recent high profile operations include evidence recovery during the Robert Durst Murder investigation and the search for and recovery of debris of the Space Shuttle Columbia from Toledo Bend Reservoir.
